MAKAN - meaning "to eat" - is chef James Wozniuk's culinary dream come to life celebrating his love and passion for Malaysian cuisine and culture. A seasoned chef with deep roots in exploring a variety of Asian cuisines, Wozniuk invites guests to indulge in the beauty and diversity of rich and flavorful Malaysian cuisine cooked with care, as well as a versatile beverage program utilizing a wide range of Malaysian ingredients. Makan opened in the District's Columbia Heights neighborhood in March 2020 in the midst of an international historic pandemic, but has persevered and continues to receive critical acclaim including a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide Washington DC 2021 and 2022.
